White chairs lining the lawn, the ringing of the original school bell, the color guard leading the processional in as fifth grade handbells plays "Pomp and Circumstance," and, of course, the 6th grade's final musical performance which they dedicate to their families. We enjoyed seeing former and current students at Oradell ARTS FEST yesterday. They were selling their crafts, creating art and sharing their many talents. New OPS Event!!! In fourth grade, students have the opportunity to choose an instrument to play. Learning the recorder in third grade helps them begin their instrument journey as they read music and learn to take care of their instrument. This year, they also had the opportunity to try out instruments before making their choice for fourth grade. #MusicMatters #PantherPrude
This morning, OPS and OPD once again joined together in the final leg of the OPS/OPD "Triple Crown" of events. We lined the streets to recognize Chief Emmie as this year's "Chief for a Day." Our 6th Grade Awards Night is about more than just recognizing students for academic and character awards. It is also about providing students a chance to lead. Students volunteer to create the program, perform musically, serve as hosts for the evening and share their memories of OPS. Some of our 6th grade band students were honored to be selected to participate in the New Jersey School Music Association on Saturday! 🎶 They spent the day rehearsing and performing alongside student musicians from across the region and represented OPS with pride. While they loved the music, the experience, and the opportunity, there was one unanimous review from the group… waking up early on a Saturday to drive all the way to Mount Olive was a stretch. 😂🎺🥁
