Return of Panther Pride: Our Path, Our OPS

Monday: A Day

IMPORTANT - REVISED 25-26 CALENDAR: At last night's Board of Education meeting, a revised school calendar was approved for the current school year. The updated calendar can be found here. The following changes have been made:

  • The district utilized 2 of the 3 emergency days built in to the calendar; therefore, school will now end on Thursday, June 18th instead of Friday, June 19th.

  • Tuesday, June 16th is now a minimum day (12:30 dismissal).

  • Friday, May 22nd is a minimum day (12:30 dismissal) for students and a Professional Development afternoon for staff.

6TH GRADE STEAMTANK REQUEST: Did you know that between 60–100 million crayons are wasted each year? Crayons are made of a non-biodegradable wax that can take hundreds of years to break down in landfills. Help support our 6th grade STEAM Eco-Doh project by donating old and used crayons to the STEAM Lab. A collection box will be located outside the lab. Thank you for your support!

NJSLA STARTS THIS WEEK: A reminder that NJSLA testing begins this week for Grade 3. Please help your child get a good night’s sleep and eat breakfast before coming to school, as snack will be held after testing each day.

PTA MEETING TUESDAY: Families interested in learning more about the class placement process are encouraged to attend the PTA meeting on April 28 at 7:30 PM, where Mrs. Hawley will provide a brief overview of OPS’s placement process.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS ART SHOW HELP: OPS’s Art Show will be held on May 19th! Ms. Schlessinger is looking for parent volunteers to help prepare student artwork for the show. Volunteers will get a sneak peek of student work before the big night! Many volunteers are needed, and any time you can give is greatly appreciated. Please sign up HERE.

LAST CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS! NEW OPS COMMITTEE: We are excited to announce the creation of our Stakeholder Engagement Team (SET). SET is a group of parents and staff who come together to build connections and share perspectives that help support our school community as we continue setting the path for the future of OPS. The team will include 3–5 parents, a PTA liaison, 3–5 staff members, an Oradell Education Association liaison, and the principal and assistant principals. SET will meet approximately three times per school year, with meetings scheduled at 9:00 AM, 1:30 PM, and 7:00 PM to accommodate different schedules. Volunteers must be available to attend all three meetings in person. The first meeting will be May 29th at 1:30 PM Interested parents can apply HERE. The deadline to apply to volunteer is Monday, 4/29/26.

SCHAEFER SUMMER EXPLORATIONS PROGRAM: The Oradell Public School District is excited to offer the Schaefer Explorations Summer Enrichment Program, including KinderCamp. This voluntary program runs weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 PM, beginning Monday, June 22 and ending Friday, July 17 (closed July 3). With three periods each day, families can choose from a variety of engaging classes. Classes, registration, and payment information can be found HERE. The deadline to register before late fees apply is Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
