Return of Panther Pride: Our Path, Our OPS

Monday: C Day

SAVE THE DATE - HALLOWEEN: The annual OPS Halloween Parade will be in the afternoon on October 31st. The morning will be a typical school day, and all celebrations will occur in the afternoon. There will be one lunch period from 11:15 AM to 12:45 PM. Students may stay for lunch and change into their costumes at school, or go home for lunch and then change into their costumes. Please do not send students in costume in the morning. More details to follow.

SCHOOL COUNSELORS: OPS has two school counselors who welcome questions from families and are happy to be a resource. Mrs. Mason is our full-time counselor and primary support for grades 3–6. Mrs. Huston is part-time and primary support for grades K–2. Both counselors work with all students as needed and serve as the 504 coordinators for their grade levels. They will also run small groups throughout the year to support student needs.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT GRADES 4-6: Give your child a chance to make a difference! Our student government is a great way for fourth, fifth, and sixth graders to give back to the community and develop leadership skills. If your child is interested in joining this wonderful group, please fill out the application using the link HERE.

DID YOU KNOW? At OPS we believe that a problem is a possibility to learn and grow. This summer the OPS Student Code of Conduct was updated to be a progressive model with three grade ranges: K–1, 2–4, and 5–6. The focus is on learning from mistakes through reflection, restorative conversations, and targeted supports, paired with fair consequences when needed. Responses escalate for repeated or serious behaviors, progressing from reminders and reflection to detention or suspension, with ongoing family communication. Teachers and administrators have been reviewing expectations with students, including sharing a student-friendly Code of Conduct that is posted in all classrooms. We encourage families to read the Code of Conduct and discuss it together at home.
